Sonsbeek 2026 x Hartwig Proxy: The Curved Times of Memory (What Would I Do in Orbit)? Day 1
Sonsbeek 2026
Hartwig Proxy, Amsterdam
5 September 2026
Event HAF
Inleiding
How is memory imagined at the scale of a body, a landscape, or a planet? Presented in partnership with Hartwig Proxy in Amsterdam, and spread over two days in both Amsterdam and Arnhem, participants are invited to move across different scales of memory. This public programme takes its inspiration from Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven's flower carpet, Mystic Hexagram, commissioned for Sonsbeek 2026 with Hartwig Art Foundation, carried by her thinking on the spiral as a healing force and the Milky Way as a source of inspiration.
Through workshops, performances, film, and poetry, the program asks how we carry time within us, and how art, land, and shared presence might help us remember differently.
More information will follow soon.

Day 1 Amsterdam Workshops
On Saturday 5 September the program takes place at Hartwig Proxy in Amsterdam with workshops led by Loesje and Jota Mombaca.
Hartwig Proxy Choir workshop
Jota Mombaça and Fieke Westland co-lead this choir workshop: Mombaça bringing her practice around cacophony - brought to life by the ArtEZ student choir as part of her Sonsbeek 2026 commission - and Westland her conducting expertise as the choir's leader. Participants from Hartwig's Proxy Choir will explore concepts from Mombaça's practice and the cacophonic expression of the planetary voice at the heart of her Sonsbeek commission: a story of non-human characters navigating ecological transformation.

Writing workshop by Loesje
A creative group workshop using Loesje's signature text-writing method, in which participants collectively develop short, sharp one-liners — at once playful, critical, and activating. Topics emerge from the group, making each session unique. The texts produced are designed to shift perspectives and invite action.
