Cultural codes
Inleiding
Sonsbeek subscribes to the various codes and guidelines created together with the Dutch cultural sector, which are now widely used: the Diversity and Inclusion Code in the Cultural Sector, the Fair Practice Code, the Governance Code Culture and, for fair fees, the Guideline Function and Wages for Presentation Institutions for Visual Arts of De Zaak Nu, and the Guideline Artist's Fees of Beeldende Kunst Nederland.
Diversity & Inclusion Code
Sonsbeek subscribes to the Diversity & Inclusion Code and strives for a cultural sector that reflects society's diversity. As a foundation dedicated to art in public space, we recognize the importance of an inclusive approach in all our activities. This means we actively work to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of background, gender, age, sexual orientation, or physical ability. We aim for inclusiveness in our programming, collaborations, and internal processes, and are committed to promoting equal opportunities and respecting diverse perspectives. We actively reflect on our practices and make space for critical voices and perspectives of marginalized groups. Inclusion is not a checkbox for Sonsbeek, but an ongoing, critical practice that translates into both content choices and audience approaches.
Fair Practice Code
Sonsbeek uses the Fair Practice Code as a guideline for fair and transparent work within the cultural sector. This code, based on the core values of solidarity, diversity, sustainability, trust, and transparency, forms the basis for our policy on working conditions and collaboration. We aim for fair remuneration, clear agreements, and a healthy working environment for all involved, including artists, employees, freelancers, interns, and volunteers. By embracing these principles, we contribute to a sustainable and just cultural sector.
Cultural Governance Code
Sonsbeek follows the Cultural Governance Code to ensure good governance and transparency within our organization. This code provides guidelines for responsible governance, supervision and accountability, and helps us make well-considered decisions that are in line with our mission and values. Our Supervisory Board works on a voluntary basis and receives no remuneration or fees. We aim for an open and participative governance culture, in which integrity and commitment are central.
Renumeration policy
Sonsbeek follows the remuneration policy as prescribed by Dutch law and the conditions for cultural ANBI status. We handle our financial resources with care, focusing on the objectives of the foundation and the public interest. Our remuneration policy is as follows.
Supervisory Board and Volunteers
Supervisory Board members of Sonsbeek do not receive any remuneration for their work. However, they may receive an allowance for expenses incurred directly as a result of their position, such as travel or meeting expenses.
Volunteers may also claim an expense allowance, in accordance with the tax authorities' standards.
Staff
When Sonsbeek employs staff, salaries are determined according to the usual standards within the non-profit and cultural sector, appropriate to the nature of the function and the experience of the employee. We use the Function and Wage Structure Guideline of De Zaak Nu, which is used by the cultural sector in the context of Fair Practice.
No excessive compensation is provided. All compensation is in proportion to the job requirements and contributes to the realization of the objectives of the foundation.
In-kind rewards
Sonsbeek does not grant remuneration in kind unless strictly necessary for the execution of work by staff or volunteers.
Transparency
The foundation attaches great importance to transparency. The compensation and expenses of board members, employees, and volunteers are included annually in the financial annual report that is publicly available.
Evaluation
Sonsbeek's remuneration policy is reviewed periodically to ensure it continues to comply with legal and ANBI guidelines, while also remaining consistent with the foundation's mission.
Partners
Sonsbeek receives financial support from the municipality of Arnhem.
