Artist Spotlight: Talk nasa4nasa & Jota Mombaça (EN)

Dancers Noura Seif Hassanein and Salma AbdelSalam of nasa4nasa and artist Jota Mombaça will engage in a conversation about their understanding of memory as a relational process and remembering as a form of bodily attunement.

Moderated by Amira Gad, curator of Sonsbeek 2026, the discussion explores the role of landscape within their work. Independently of one another, they describe the landscape as a “third body” or “third choreographer”: an active presence that helps shape movement, relationships, and perception.

The program includes screenings of promises b2b (2021) by nasa4nasa. Originally created for Instagram, this video series uses a rehearsal space, a studio, and the Faiyum Desert west of the Nile as displaced stages. Across these locations, the artists explore distance as a third presence within their choreography. The discussion will be conducted in English.
