‘The long language (Spiral)’ – Jota Mombaça with the ArtEZ student choir

Jota Mombaça is an interdisciplinary artist whose work centres on elemental forms of perception and anti-colonial imagination. Her new work for Sonsbeek 2026 presents a scene from a multidisciplinary opera in which She regains Her voice after a catastrophic cycle.

Following its premiere at the opening on July 2, join us for a second performance in the Steile Tuin, where She will be joined by a choir bringing together a cacophony of voices from across the cosmos.
