‘the long language (Spiral)’ – Jota Mombaça with the ArtEZ student choir

Jota Mombaça is an interdisciplinary artist whose work centers on elemental forms of perception and anti-colonial imagination. Her new work for Sonsbeek 2026 presents a scene from a multidisciplinary opera in which She regains Her voice after a catastrophic cycle.

During the opening, She will be joined by a choir that brings together a cacophony of voices from across the cosmos in the Steile Tuin. The performance will be conducted in English.
