Fintag Magee, Feast Flood, 2016

On the wall next to Showroom Arnhem, on a flat of Portaal, an immense, realistic mural of Australian graffiti artist Fintan Magee appeared. Fintan is not afraid to go big. This work is even small by his standards.

Magee's murals are about climate change, something he finds suitable for Arnhem, given the fact the city is below sea level. Against all odds, the work does not spread a political message. Fintan's murals can be interpreted in many ways, with a touch a self-mockery. With humor, he sheds light on complex stories. Since graduating at the art college in 2009, his works can be admired in all kinds of public spaces in Australia, including the walls of deserted and decayed places in Brisbane. Brisbane is the city where he started out as a guerilla graffiti artist.

This mural in Arnhem is hard to spot nowadays, due to new buildings. But it is still there.
