Nnamari, Untitled, 2016

Coehoorn park used to be popular among young freelancers and artists. They used to work in Café Strella, and when the weather allowed it, at the little, intimate park. One of these young artists, born in Hungary, was invited by ruangrupa to transform a wall on the edge of the park. Her name is Nnamari, and she create a mural with geometric, abstract shapes.

Although Nnamari's works can often be found in deserted rural areas, where they brighten up spaces, they are not intended to decorate or design. Nnamari aims to wink at beauty and like to play with proportions.

Together with three other artists, Nnamari lives in a boat at the Rhine. 'Together we mess around, glue, and paint', as Nnamari describes their art. Six years ago, she came into contact with street art. Starting small, by using stickers and posters, she now creates large murals, preferably in black and white. Walls are everywhere, and so she also enjoys making new works while travelling.
