Sebastián Diaz Morales, The Lost Object, 2016

Sebastián Diaz Morales' video installation, The Lost Object, the final part of the artist's trilogy, was on view in Arthouse Arnhem, a gallery in a former garage in park Coehoorn. The Lost Object is a film which does not end with the screen. By constructing reflecting elements in the space, Sebastián Diaz Morales incorporated the space and objects that were used for making the film in the film itself.
Fiction and reality fight for the main part, until they accept a shared first place. As a viewer, you are immersed in a silent world. It's difficult to describe, you have to see and experience it for yourself. Perhaps a quote form the French philosopher Jean Beaudrillard, a source of inspiration for Sebastián, could be of assistance: 'The world has vanished behind it's own representation, and it cannot go back from that.'
The spectacular nature in his country of birth, Argentina, inspired Sebastián as an artist to tell stories using images and language. His film and installation are characterised by boundless fantasy and utopian desire.
