Shilpa Gupta in collaboration with Buro Harro Untitled, 2016

Inside the land artwork of Bombay-based artist Shilpa Gupta, one's view of the sky is not obstructed by buildings or trees. Even if you would look down, you would still see the sky, mirrored in the water in the soil.

Shilpa's artwork, co-designed by Buro Harro for park Sonsbeek, was hidden in one of the park's highest hills. Upon arriving, one was surprised by an oval-shaped arena, with a water source at its core. The harmonious shape of the work seemed to suggest it had always been a part of the park.

The work is about borders. A border between the landscape and the sky. A border between humans and water. Visitors will notice the carved messages on the stairs, the tits flying nearby. And of course the endless sky. The further down, the more quiet it gets.
